A DAY LONG OPPORTUNITY TO UPSKILL STAFF IN THE DIFFERENT AREAS OF WINE SERVICE
As part of our Professional Connoisseur series we are pleased to announce a day of education in wine service and product knowledge.
10am – 1pm:
The morning master class is our own Senses, Service & Skills – an introduction to Sommellerie course.
This is a half day, beginner’s guide to the basics of Sommellerie (wine waiting). Delegates will learn all the essential basics about wine, the major varietals, wine service and winemaking. Plus, importantly, they will learn what is involved in a sommelier’s day.
This module includes:
• What is a sommelier?
• Wine Service and what this involves
• Profile of a Sommelier and a usual day
• The basics of wine
• Outline of major grape varietals
• The process of winemaking
• Basics of glassware and handling
BREAK FOR LIGHT LUNCH
2pm – 4pm:
This afternoon class gives delegates a chance to practice their tasting skills as well as the opportunity to gain knowledge about Sherry!
Every bar in the land stocks Sherry, but how often does it find its way to the table?
What is the difference between the wide range of styles available?
How should they be served to show them at their best?
What type of foods do they combine with?
Come and find out the answers to these and other questions at this tutored tasting offered by the Sherry Institute of Spain featuring a complete range of Sherries drawn from all the major importers.
